IGN Confirms a Japanese Arcade release for Street Fighter IV

According to IGN, the Famitsu scans posted earlier today does have a bit more to it than being a simple rehash of previously released information and a new character. Famitsu's editors were able to confirm with Capcom and Yoshinori Ono that Street Fighter IV will be receiving an arcade release in Japan in 2008.

All fans can now breathe a collective sigh of relief.

There is no word on which arcade hardware Street Fighter IV will be featured on (Capcom is currently working on the System 256 hardware for Sengoku Basara X with Arc System Works), but it does mean that the chances of Street Fighter IV appearing at the AOU show in February are good based on the early reports from AM-net which had previously listed the game as rumored for the event. I would love to see Capcom make a presence at the trade show with Street Fighter IV. For a game that clearly defined almost an entire decade in arcades, it's only fitting that it returns to form where the "journey" began.

IGN also mentions that the console home for Street Fighter IV has yet to be determined - but based on past interviews, Capcom seems eager to put it on as many systems as possible.
