Though this isn't my favorite game in the series, it is still a good shooting game that deserves some attention from any fan of the genre. The bullet "buzzing" feature is well done and though it rewards a more "suicidal" style of play, high score fanatics should find enough variation in the game to find the game worthy of some dedicated play time.
Hopefully Aksys will take a bit more care with the translation that the series didn't receive with its last two releases under other publishers(Castle Shikigami 2's translation was absolutely horrible and Mobile Light Force 2 has some of the worst marketing ever).
Press release below.

OMG Mobile Light Force 4!!!1
I just got the X360 version yesterday. A very nice port, TATE mode is in, and video output seems to be higher res than the PC port. Looks quite sharp around the edges, and offers a variable video output scaling feature to get as much of the playing field onto your screen. (Supports D3 output setting, 720p/1080i)
Haven't messed with any of the "Extreme" game modes yet, but the "Director's Mode" default setting seems to have some new attack patterns and enemies. (Don't quote me on this, I'm not hardcore enough to memorize this stuff.)
Obligatory art gallery is in, and is quite nice. No new artwork, but you can see more of the character portraits than during gameplay. It also features bonus audio clips for all the characters which is nice.
I was suspicious about how much stuff Arcsy would be willing and/or able to put into the game, but it seems like they did an upstanding job. It fills me with hope that the Raiden Fighters Aces collection will be equally good. But then porting 10+ year-old i386 assembly code to a PPC platform is a whole other can of worms than a 2-year-old win32 app. Cautiously optimistic.
